MBR Oud Perfumes needed a new ecommerce store that could translate its physical fragrance-buying experience into digital commerce while keeping online and offline retail connected.
The product model itself was more complex than a conventional perfume catalogue. Customers can purchase attars or use an attar as the base for a perfume, with the ability to choose the fragrance oil concentration.
Alongside this, the business needed the storefront to support a wider omnichannel retail experience across:
The objective was to create one commerce ecosystem rather than treating the website and physical stores as separate businesses.
We worked across the ecommerce structure, customer journey and Shopify implementation from the ground up.
Our scope included:
A key part of our role was translating both the product-buying logic and the physical retail experience into a Shopify setup customers could use independently online.
We built the store around the way MBR Oud actually sells fragrance rather than forcing the range into a conventional ecommerce catalogue.
The experience allows the attar to become the starting point of the buying journey.
Customers can discover a fragrance and then choose how they want to experience it.
The journey connects:
Choose Attar → Select Format → Choose Oil Concentration → Configure Perfume → Purchase
This creates a clear relationship between the original attar and the finished perfume instead of presenting every possible combination as an unrelated product.
Customers can also choose the concentration of fragrance oil used in their perfume.
That meant building product logic beyond standard ecommerce variants such as size or colour.
The storefront needed to make the configuration understandable while keeping the purchase journey simple.
Because fragrance cannot be experienced directly online, the store also needed to reduce uncertainty around discovery.
The experience combines:
The aim was to recreate part of the assisted buying experience customers would normally receive inside a fragrance store.
We implemented Shopify POS to connect the physical retail operation with the ecommerce store.
The setup allows inventory to operate within the same Shopify ecosystem across:
Physical Store ↔ Shopify POS ↔ Inventory ↔ Ecommerce
This reduces the need to manage online and offline stock independently and gives the business clearer inventory visibility across channels.
The fulfilment experience was also structured around the customer’s location and preference.
Customers can choose between options such as:
This allows the website to make better use of the brand’s existing retail presence rather than treating physical stores only as offline sales channels.
The commerce experience also includes functionality designed to support repeat purchasing and gifting.
Gift cards provide customers with another way to purchase fragrance for someone else without having to select the exact product themselves.
A loyalty-points programme connects repeat purchases with ongoing customer rewards, giving the brand a mechanism to encourage retention within the same ecommerce ecosystem.
Together, these features extend the store beyond the initial transaction and support a longer customer relationship.
MBR Oud launched with a Shopify setup that connects product configuration, ecommerce and physical retail within one commerce ecosystem.
The platform gives the business:
For the customer, the experience provides more flexibility around what they buy, how they configure it, how they receive it and how they engage with the brand after the first purchase.
For the business, the result is a more connected omnichannel retail setup where the online store, physical location, inventory, fulfilment and customer-retention mechanisms operate within the same Shopify ecosystem.
